Here's this month's email newsletter ~ At Dominion Electric Supply, Go All Out!
I just love the photo our ad agency used. And I think the most important thing to share here is this...
LED is a better option than incandescent landscape lighting. HERE'S WHY:
1. LED Lighting lasts up to 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs (40,000 hours vs. 4,000 hours).
2. You do not have to change the bulbs/lamps every 1-2 years as you do with incandescent outdoor lighting.
3. Due to the lower wattage, you can use a smaller transformer and wires.
4. Due to the lower wattage, you will have less voltage drop, so you can use thinner cable and have easier layouts, so you can wire in series and daisy chain more fixtures, instead of buying additional transformers.
5. LED prices are dropping fast, and new technologies enabling high output with less heat are coming on line every day.

Product recalls from Emerson and Thomas
We have learned of two product recalls this week ~ one from Emerson Fans and the other from Thomas Lighting. We are trying to contact customers directly, but we also thought we should put it out on our social media to be sure we get the word out.
First, this is the Emerson information:
The hazard is the hanger bracket may spread apart due to heat from the motor and out-of-balance operation, allowing the fan to fall from the ceiling, posing a risk of injury to bystanders. The Models are Corsair Ceiling Fans ~ CF3400AP24 - CF3400ORH24 - CF3400AP36 - CF3400ORH36 - CF3400AP48 - CF3400ORH48. They say to turn off the fan and stop using immediately to prevent possible spreading of the hanger bracket. The solution is to contact Emerson to receive a free Corsair Hanger Bracket repair kit: 800.237.6511. Information concerning this Safety Recall is also available through the Emerson Air Comfort Products web site at http://www.emersonfans.com/Pages/Home.aspx
Next up, Thomas Lighting:

The Hazard on these is the fixture's socket wire insulation can degrade, leading to charged wires becoming exposed, causing electricity to pass the metal canopy of the fixture. This poses a fire and electric shock hazard to consumers. The Remedy is that consumers should immediately stop using the light fixture, avoid direct contact with the fixture and contact Thomas Lighting to arrange for a free in-home repair of the fixtures by a qualified electrician. Contact Thomas Lighting at 800.764.0756 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit their website at http://www.thomaslighting.com/

Progress Lighting and Delta faucets
Enlightenment Magazine has a great article in their current issue (May 2012) about the partnership between Progress Lighting and Delta Faucets. Please read their article here: http://www.enlightenmentmag.com/kitchen-and-bath/delta-faucet
Here are snapshots of their article:
So here's the scoop: Progress Lighting and Delta Faucets have partnered to share matching finishes. Progress has 8 different families, in 5 different finishes (-03 aged pewter, -06 pearl nickel, -09 brushed nickel, -15 polished chrome, and -74 Venetian bronze). Here are the 8 families ~ I'm showing them all in a 3-light version, but they also have singles, doubles, and a few have quads:
So you can select one of these lights, in their wonderful variety of finishes, and you'll know for sure that a Delta Faucet in the same finish will match! Please note that not all lighting families come in all finishes. You can see details at http://progresslighting.com/ or email me at cschla@dominionelectric.com.

Decorative LED from George Kovacs
We saw a great new LED bath light from George Kovacs last week. We had a visit from our rep, Steve Saks, with our new National Sales Manager, Wayne Ogden. They had a sample of this LED bath/sconce light:
Inside the glass is a strip of LED lights, similar to LED tape, if you've seen that. There are no hot spots and no dead spots ~ the glass is evenly illuminated from top to bottom. And it's only using 10 watts! I fell in love.... and I'm thinking I need to put the longer version in my bathroom at home:
This version uses 22 watts of gorgeous LED, and it can be mounted vertically or horizontally. Both versions come in Dark Restoration Bronze, Chrome, and Brushed Nickel. I'm so excited to be seeing some decorative options in LED. We've had under cabinet and the tape and other task lights for a while now, but not so much in decorative. Kovacs even has an LED drum pendant:
Kind of funky, but I like it!
They also have floor lamps, table lamps, and wall lamps with LED light sources:
All of these are also available in Chrome and Brushed Nickel. What do you all think of these new LED decorative pieces? I can't stop thinking about the long one for my bath vanity at home!

They also have floor lamps, table lamps, and wall lamps with LED light sources:
P4314-631 ~ I love the name of this finish: Chocolate Chrome ~ sounds delicious! |
P4316-248 ~ And I think this is a nicely updated brass finish ~ they call it Honey Gold. |
P4308-647 ~ This one is Copper Bronze. |
