Our projects featured in Home and Design Magazine

Today I wanted to show you some projects we've helped to illuminate! First, we have a few featured in the current Home & Design Magazine:
The cover of the magazine

Amanda Leonard designs all the lighting for Creighton Enterprises.  This is their new model home.

Erin Schwartz worked with Stacey Hoffman on her own home for Great Falls Construction.

This is also the Great Falls House ~ that's a Currey piece over the kitchen table in the top picture, and Uttermost over the island.  In the bottom picture, that is Corbett in the dining room.

The top picture shows Eurofase pendants, and the lower picture is Besa.  This is also the  Great Falls Construction house.
And then Kaity Bloxton shared this link with me:

Here is the Course Description:
While good lighting might appear to be complicated, creating intriguing light can be as simple as 1-2-3. By understanding this trio, the concept can be employed in any room or setting. This presentation will explain the three steps and show how they can be implemented in any residence. The different luminaires used and the various lamping options for each layer will be discussed. Lighting ideas will be shared and real-world successes and failures will be exposed. Finally, suggestions on how the designer can best work with clients relative to lighting will be presented.

And the Learning Objective: A well lit kitchen or bath is as crucial as properly placed appliances and adequately positioned cabinetry. The participant in this session will learn to properly plan for lighting and use lighting as a design element to accentuate the space and add beauty to the interior environment.

NVBIA Remodelers Council

Today, I have a guest blogger ~ Eileen Naughton from my Chantilly Showroom:

I really enjoyed attending the NVBIA Remodelers Council Committee Meeting meeting on May 3rd. The topic was "Competitive Advantage Marketing ~ Listen to and share ideas on how to market without reducing pricing." We were to come prepared with our experiences on what has worked and what has not. Together we grow stronger. Everyone contributed to the meeting with energy and excitement. There was a great exchange of ideas to help bring in new business. Some recommendations I made: Use Social Media - Facebook, twitter, website - to get as much exposure as possible. Educate the customer on why it is best not to cut corners. Call previous customers and ask for recommendations. Consistent Networking through meetings, sharing and exchanging ideas.

Jim Bateman is in the center ~ he is the head of the Remodelers Council for the NVBIA.
~ Eileen Naughton

~ And I'll just add that Toni Bonvicini and Valerie Ramos from our Arlington showroom also attended along with Eileen. So if you'd like to learn more about the NVBIA Remodelers Council, please let them know! ~ Catherine Schlawin
