Product recalls from Emerson and Thomas

We have learned of two product recalls this week ~ one from Emerson Fans and the other from Thomas Lighting.  We are trying to contact customers directly, but we also thought we should put it out on our social media to be sure we get the word out.

First, this is the Emerson information:

Emerson Corsair Ceiling Fans ~ call 800.237.6511

The hazard is the hanger bracket may spread apart due to heat from the motor and out-of-balance operation, allowing the fan to fall from the ceiling, posing a risk of injury to bystanders.  The Models are Corsair Ceiling Fans ~ CF3400AP24 - CF3400ORH24 - CF3400AP36 - CF3400ORH36 - CF3400AP48 - CF3400ORH48.  They say to turn off the fan and stop using immediately to prevent possible spreading of the hanger bracket.  The solution is to contact Emerson to receive a free Corsair Hanger Bracket repair kit:  800.237.6511.  Information concerning this Safety Recall is also available through the Emerson Air Comfort Products web site at http://www.emersonfans.com/Pages/Home.aspx

Thomas Lighting SL326-8 - SL8692-78 - SL8772-63

The Hazard on these is the fixture's socket wire insulation can degrade, leading to charged wires becoming exposed, causing electricity to pass the metal canopy of the fixture.  This poses a fire and electric shock hazard to consumers.  The Remedy is that consumers should immediately stop using the light fixture, avoid direct contact with the fixture and contact Thomas Lighting to arrange for a free in-home repair of the fixtures by a qualified electrician.  Contact Thomas Lighting at 800.764.0756 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit their website at http://www.thomaslighting.com/
