Happy Monday to all! This has nothing to do with lighting, but on a personal note, I can hardly contain my excitement for the weekend ~ I am walking 13.1 miles (a half-marathon) to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The race is in Virginia Beach this Sunday, and I've been training all summer for it, so I'm really excited!!!
But until then, I need to focus on work! So for today I wanted to share a few selections from the brand new Robert Abbey catalog. Our rep, Karen Wolf, dropped off our copy last week, and it is quite spectacular! If you're not familiar with this line, they have great designs at very reasonable prices. Here are my most favorite:
I'm thinking about this chandelier for my parents' house. They've been wanting to update their dining room light for quite a while, and their existing fixture has the downlight feature, which we all really like.

new ALA lighting specialists
I wanted to be the first to offer my congratulations to our two newest ALA certified Lighting Specialists! Erin Schwartz, in my Chantilly showroom, and Toni Bonvicini, recently promoted to Arlington's assistant showroom manager, just completed their exams and both passed with flying colors! ALA is our American Lighting Association, and I've always believed it's very important for our people to get certified. So I'm very proud of these two for completing it. Kudos to Erin & Toni!!!

new Hinkley
Today we're hanging new Hinkley fixtures. Here is the cream of the crop (in MY humble opinion!):
Hinkley 3204BR
Hinkley 3204BR
I love the hardware on this piece. It adds nice strength to the plain drum shade.
This finish is Antique Nickel which is always a winner, but it also comes in Brushed Bronze which I pictured in a post last month. We're in love with both finishes, but thought Nickel was a safer bet for stocking.
Hinkley 4098RI
I saved my most favorite for last. Don't you love the extra tall glass on this piece? It's so unique!

new Currey and Company
I'm back from vacation, refreshed & recharged! And the showroom also looks wonderfully refreshed for my return ~ they hung all sorts of new Currey & Company chandeliers while I was gone. So here are my favorites:
Currey 9958 Millay Chandelier
The picture really doesn't do this one justice. It is stunning in person! I love fixtures with ornate bottoms, since that's what you really see when you're sitting at a table.
Currey 9675 Nocturne Chandelier in Brass
This can also be ordered in Nickel ~ both are wonderfully rich!
It's not really crooked in person ~ that's just my lack of scanning ability!
Currey 9254 Eminence Chandelier
It's shown here with optional shades, which we did not buy for display. Honestly, I think it's prettier without them. You'll have to come see ours in the showroom and cast your vote!

We had this on display once before, and it was such a winner we had to bring it back!
This one is 48" wide by 44" high ~ great size for a "medium"!
Their large is #9314 and is 60" x 54" ~ I think ours is plenty big for most generous spaces!
Currey 9000 Quantum Chandelier
Of course, it's always hard to beat fixtures with bubble baubles!

energy + light + control
Today we had a visit from a dear industry friend, Lee Odess. Lee has been in the lighting control & AV business for many many years and has now gone out on his own. Check out his new business at www.leeodess.com ~ we will be partnering with him for lighting control projects, and I hope we also learn a thing or two about solar & wind control as we go along!
I'll be on vacation starting this Friday until Monday the 17th, so this will probably be my last post till I get back. Have a great couple of weeks!
