More Amazing Red Tag Deals!

Today I'll share two specials from Corbett Lighting. The first is from their Bombay Collection, Corbett's # 41-06. This is hand wrought iron and solid brass with amber glass accents in an heirloom finish. The shades are inverted scallop, and there are 6 arms for an overall dimension of 28" wide by 36" high. The original price on this chandelier was $847.80, but we now have it marked down to $593. Here's a picture:

Next we have a Corbett # 33-48 from their Neopolitan Interior collection. This stunning lantern is 17-1/2" wide by 38-3/4" high with eight 60-watt lamps inside the marbled amber glass. It has been lowered from $1983.60 down to $999 now:

Please come visit our Chantilly showroom to see these and many more beautiful deals! We are open 8 to 5 Monday to Friday and Saturdays 9 to 3, but we WILL be closed this Friday & Saturday for the 4th of July holiday.

Amazing Red Tag deals!

Our CFO has decided it's time to do some major marking down of some of our older or discontinued inventory, so you just have to come see the amazing deals we have in the Chantilly showroom! I'm also going to feature one or two a day right here, so stay tuned. Today's first featured chandelier is from Pecaso, a #4610-6:
On display the green crystals are a bit darker than they look in this picture, but this gives you a good idea of what it looks like. The original price on this chandelier was $1620, but we've just marked it down to $450!!!

Next we have a Fine Arts #552440. This picture does NOT do it justice!
This is from their "Brazilian" collection ~ it was originally priced at $5241.60 but is now marked down to $999! They describe the glass as hand-blown mottled sable, and the iron is brown patina with prata antiga silver accents. Beautiful!

More Lighting Tips!

Right after I posted my last round of Lighting Tips, my Landmark Lighting rep gave me this fabulous brochure called Lighting Planning Guide (thanks, Ed Katz!). So this info is nothing particularly different from what I've posted before, but it's a nice format, and they have a mail-in rebate you can print out! The rebate applies to either Landmark Lighting, or their sister company Elk Lighting. (You can double-click on any image to make it larger and to print it.)

Lead Share

In my mission to do more networking in 2009, I attended a Lead Share meeting yesterday as a guest of Norma Kuyt. It was very interesting! I'd love to know if anyone else is in tune with Lead Share (so email me at cschla@dominionelectric.com if you do!). My understanding is that you join the Chamber of Commerce, and then this is an optional networking group you can join. This group was out of Loudoun County, so now I want to find out if Fairfax County has it as well (no, I haven't Googled it yet! It's on my to-do list!). Anyway, there were probably 40 people from all different professions there yesterday ~ quite a group! So Thank You to Norma for inviting me, and please let me know if you have experience with it!

ASID CEU

Last night was our ASID Continuing Education class with Lutron, and it was great! Jordan Hobart and Vince Pearl from our local Lutron rep agencies led the seminar, and I was really impressed with how much they covered in such a short amount of time. We were joined by Gale Robertson of Art & Design, Lisa Montague of Repose, MJ Clark, Norma Kuyt, Sue Debevec, and Tamara Catania of DesignWorks ~ a fabulous audience! Some of these designers go way back with Dominion Electric Supply, but some I was meeting for the first time ~ so it was really nice to have such a lovely mixture. I think they learned a lot, and we sure had fun, so I certainly hope to do it again soon. Let me know if you'd like to be invited to our next one!

High Point showroom videos

I got an email from Residential Lighting magazine with a really neat link:
http://www.residentiallighting.com/%5Cindex.cfm?fuseaction=pluggedIn

They feature four lighting showrooms at the High Point market: Murray Feiss & Quoizel (which we carry) and Palecek & Adesso (which we don't carry, but now that I see some of their products, I wonder if we should! Let me know what you think!). So if you've never attended a lighting market, these videos offer a little insight into the showroom experience, and you can also see a few of the newest products from these 4 manufacturers!

Lighting FAQ's

Today I wanted to go over some of our most Frequently Asked Questions (with some answers, of course!):
~What size chandelier should I use for my dining room?
The general rule of thumb here is to add the length & width of your room together, make that inches, and that is the diameter you want for your chandelier. So if your room is 14' x 16', you'd want a chandelier about 30" wide (give or take a couple of inches). And you want it to hang 30-36" off the table, or 5' off the floor.
~How do I light a hall?
You want a light every 8 to 10 feet, be it a recessed light or a flush ceiling-mounted light.
~How high should I mount my wall sconces?
Usually about 60" off the floor.
~How high should I mount my front door lights?
Slightly above eye level, or 66" above the bottom of the door.
~How far off the floor should a floor lamp or table lamp be?
The bottom of the lamp shade should be 42" from the floor. For a desk lamp, it should be about 16" from the work surface and 13" from the front of the desk. And for torchieres, they should be 66-72" from the floor.
